The movie and TV stars and vehicles extravaganza is in its fourth year and Brickshire were invited as part of a move to the impressive facilities at Doncaster Racecourse and just over 4,000 visitors some of the best LEGO creations and impressive retail set displays in the region.
In addition to KITT, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, stars from film and TV were there with Kenny Baker (R2-D2) and David Prowse (Darth Vader) from Star Wars and Sophie Aldred (Ace) from Doctor Who just a sample. You were never far from a Stormtrooper as the event also attracted cosplayers and costumers from around the region and with the best of them taking part in a light and sound parade on the custom built stage.
Our display opened up with a 2,200 brick Brickshire logo accompanied by some super-sized minifigures. Visitors were then treated to nearly 20 tables full of sets and creations from our members.
Accompanying the events collection of Bat vehicles, Brickshire members more than matched it by bringing together into one display every LEGO bat vehicle ever released, including the impressive new Ultimate Collector Series Tumblr.
From Office towers to burger joints and western forts to farms, visitors were able to see how great builds didn’t need to be big with some excellent creations on show from our micro architecture competition.
A Steampunk airship a, a giant mech and an undersea rock concert were just some of the amazing creations on display while LEGO MOVIE fans were treated to a crowd-stopping custom multi-storey Cloud Cuckoo Land and an incredible display stand for the movie’s collectable minifigures.
The centrepiece of our display was an 18,000 brick mosaic artwork showing an artistic visage of the mask of Darth Vader. In a truly special moment for its creator, David Prowse, the man who played Darth Vader in the original trilogy added the last few bricks and an autograph making it not just a unique creation (pictured), but a unique kind of LEGO creation.
You will be able to see many of the above creations and many more as Brickshire continues to display at various events throughout the rest of 2014 and 2015.
